According to an internal memo from Meta on September 6th, Instagram will soon be pulling away from its current "Shop" features. The Information reports, "Meta Platforms is moving away from some long-term projects as it focuses on building its short-form video business".
This is a big change since releasing the Shop platform to explore in July 2020, then adding it as one of the main tabs to all accounts later that year. It is estimated that the Shop Tab will be fully eliminated in early 2023.
Instagram is putting a lot of its focus on video-based content. After making it so all videos posted on the platform are Reels, (As of June 30th, 2022). Now Meta is making it clear they are not just stopping there.
Adam Mosseri, current Head Of Instagram, announced on the platform that updates have come to Reels. One is a "Add Yours" Sticker, the sticker allows Reels viewers to add their own video response to a prompt or theme is given in the sticker. Which beforehand was only accessible to Photos.
